TRIO- Educational Talent Search

Director's Message Greetings!
On behalf of the MXC TRIO Programs, I would like to thank you for taking time to visit our website. It is both a privilege and honor to be able to work at an institution of higher learning that assist students from all grade levels in accomplishing their academic, career and personal success. There are four TRIO Programs at MXC:
Educational Talent Search, Educational Opportunity Center, Upward Bound and Student Support Services. Please take a few minutes to visit these and other departmental websites to learn about all the wonderful opportunities that await you at MXC!!

Target Audience
The Educational Talent Search program enrolls individuals who are ages 11-27 years of age. Applicants must have completed the fifth grade and not be enrolled in a post-secondary institution. High School stop outs are also welcome to enroll in the program.

Although students are directly recruited from Austin, Manley, Marshall, Wells and Crane high schools; as well as Nia, Foundations and Ericson middle schools, students enrolled in other schools are welcome to apply.

Program Description
Educational Talent Search is a federally funded program through the United States Department of Education. The program is designed to serve predominately low-income, potential first generation college students. The goal of the program is to assist students in completing elementary and secondary schools and to encourage enrollment in a post-secondary institution. Our program offers tutoring, standardized test preparation, strategies to improve study skills, time management and assistance with financial aid and college applications. We arrange for our high school students to attend college tours and offer a summer camp for our middle school students. ALL program services are free!
