Students interested in joining a sports team must obtain a Tryout Certificate from the Athletic Director and present the Certificate to the head coach prior to any activity related to trying out for the team. To obtain a Tryout Certificate a student must:
- Complete an Athletic Application
- Have official transcripts from high school indicating graduation or official GED transcript on file at the college
- Have official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended on file at the college
- Complete a NJCAA Transfer Waiver Release Agreement Form if ever enrolled at any community or junior college
- Be currently enrolled for a minimum of 12 semester hours
- Meet academic eligibility requirements as set forth by NJCAA
- Have medical clearance to participate in the sports program - evidenced by a complete physical taken within 60 days of the start of practice
If all relevant documents are in place, including the results of a current physical examination, the

The final decision regarding whether or not an individual has made the team is made by the athletic department and is subject to eligibility rules as set forth by NJCAA. Students selected to join an athletic team are extended the privilege of representing Malcolm X College. This privilege may be revoked if an individual violates the Student Conduct Code or behaves in a manner counterproductive to the best interest of the college or team.
