External Facilities Requests
Any outside organization (including City of Chicago organizations) that request to use space at Malcolm X College are considered external requests. These events may involve Malcolm X College employees or students, but are not required to do so. External events are planned and carried out by an organization other than Malcolm X College. Malcolm X College staff is there to support the event, but not to facilitate it. All external organizations must ensure their event coincides with the mission of Malcolm X College.
An external requestor must submit an online application. Applications must be submitted at least 45 days prior to the requested event date. Rental rates can be obtained from the facilities links on your left. All external applications will be reviewed by a committee and responded to within approximately 14 calendar days. If the event is approved or denied, an email will be sent to the coordinator communicating the committee’s decision. During the review of an event a walk thru may be scheduled, this walk thru will in no way guarantee an event. After the walk through has occurred, if the event is approved, a contract will be created. The requestor must sign a legally binding contract and provide general liability insurance in the amount of no less than $1 million. The fully executed contract and insurance requirements must be met prior to any external activity taking place.
Malcolm X College does not host personal or private events such as weddings, showers, anniversaries, parties and talent shows.
