The Adult Education Department serves students who did not complete high school or who need to learn English. All courses are offered free of charge. Instructional materials also are provided at no cost to the student. Courses are offered in 8 and 16 week increments within a semester.
Courses offered include:
General Education Development (GED)
Prepares student to pass the high school equivalency exam. Offered in English and Spanish.
For students desiring to work on the fundamentals of reading, writing, communication and computation.
Adult Basic Education (ABE)
Improves basic reading and math skills with emphasis on critical thinking, essay writing, communication skills, and mathematical computations.
ESL (English as a Second Language)
Ranges from introductory to proficiency courses in English language instruction for adults with very limited proficiency.
Citizenship
Prepares students to pass the Citizenship examination required by the Immigration Naturalization Services.
Career Prep
Dual-focus special interest class that prepares students to obtain a GED and provides employment readiness skills training.
GED/Healthcare Bridge
Special interest class for the advanced level GED student that is geared toward students entering occupational programs in the healthcare field.
